The International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen,
first awarded in 1950, is the oldest and most renowned prize awarded to individuals or institutions for their services to Europe and European unity.

2025 laureate

Dr. Ursula von der Leyen

The President of the European Commission, Dr Ursula von der Leyen, will be awarded the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen in 2025.

The Board of Directors of the Society for the Award of the International Charlemagne Prize honours the President of the European Commission for her services to the unity of the Member States, the containment of the pandemic, the unity of the will to defend against Russia, and the impetus she has given to the Green Deal on the one hand, and for her encouragement in the face of the tasks ahead on the other.
