Text of the Certificate of Honour

On Ascension Day, 31 May 1984, in the Coronation Hall of the City Hall, the former imperial palace, the International Charlemagne Prize of the City of Aachen was awarded to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Karl Carstens, in recognition of his tireless efforts to promote the political, economic and cultural unification of the European Community.
