On Ascension Day, 23 May 1963, in the Coronation Hall of the Town Hall, the former Imperial Palace, the City of Aachen's International Charlemagne Prize for the year 1963 was awarded to the British Lord Privy Seal The Rt. Hon. Edward Heath PC, M.B.E.
