On Ascension Day, 29th May 2025, in the Coronation Hall of the Town Hall on the site of the former Imperial Palace, the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen was awarded to the President of the European Commission Dr. Ursula von der Leyen in honour of an outstanding personality whose visionary, courageous and dynamic leadership will guide the European Union, with decisiveness and perspicacity, through these times of profound transformations.
