Text of the Certificate of Honour

On Ascension Day, 24 May 1990, in the Coronation Hall of the City Hall, the former imperial palace, the International Charlemagne Prize of the City of Aachen was awarded to the former Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary, Gyula Horn, in recognition of his services to the solidarity between the peoples of Europe in East and West in the spirit of humanity.
