Text of the Certificate of Honour

The International Charlemagne Prize of the City of Aachen for the year 1960 was awarded on Ascension Day, 26 May, in the Coronation Hall of the Town Hall, the former imperial palace, to Dr. Joseph Bech, Minister of State and President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, in honour of his life's work and his great services to the unification of Europe, which began in the old League of Nations and has been purposefully continued in the European institutions.
