In a special ceremonial act, the Belarusian civil rights activist Maria Kalesnikava will now personally receive the Charlemagne Prize, which was awarded to her in absentia in 2022. The International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen and the City of Aachen therefore invite guests to a ceremony held in her honour on 14 March 2026 at 11.00 a.m. in the Coronation Hall of Aachen Town Hall. The Belarusian opposition figure was released from political imprisonment in Belarus in December 2025.

Professor Mario Draghi
Professor Mario Draghi, former President of the European Central Bank and former Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, is to be awarded the 2026 International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen.
The award ceremony will take place on 14 May 2026 in the Coronation Hall of Aachen Town Hall.
