Charlemagne Prize Academy

The Charlemagne Prize Academy, established by the Charlemagne Prize Foundation in 2019, aims to support innovative and creative research ideas in the field of future challenges for Europe.

The one-year fellowship programme provides financial and scientific support for three to five outstanding graduates, young professionals or employees of scientific or political institutes who plan to research on topics with a European relevance. Each Fellow receives € 25,000 of funding and will implement his/her project in exchange with European partner organisations and a scientific mentor, who will accompany the individual progress and research results.

The final findings are to be discussed at a concluding Summit, which should present a platform of interdisciplinary exchange between the young researchers and European decision-makers.

The yearly application period for the fellowship programme starts in summer . The Fellows are selected on the basis of the submitted research proposals by a committee with representatives from science, economics, politics and culture. The programme starts in November each year and ends with a joint publication released by the Foundation.

Building upon the network of the Charlemagne Prize and the Charlemagne Youth Prize drawing upon the intention to promote outstanding work for European understanding, the Charlemagne Prize Academy aims to connect new ideas and thoughts about future issues on Europe with the current approaches of global decision-makers.
